I regret not choosing Newborn Lifestyle Photography during the newborn haze when we brought my son home from the hospital. I barely remember those early days after I brought home my son. The first week was a total blur. I didn’t leave the house because my whole world was happening within those four walls: feeding, changing, figuring out how to assemble and sterilize bottles, googling what breast pump settings to use, and somehow trying to rest. The to-do list was endless. Thank goodness for Amazon delivering all the baby things I forgot I needed, and my in-laws showing up with meals. I honestly don’t know how I would’ve made it through without them.
Still, even through the haze of new motherhood, I knew one thing for sure: I wanted to capture this chapter with my first baby. I booked newborn photos while I was still pregnant, knowing how quickly those early days would pass.
Looking back, I wish I had chosen a lifestyle newborn session. What I really wanted were the quiet, meaningful moments: holding him close, smiling as I fed him, kissing his tiny feet, feeling his soft body snuggled against mine. Instead, I booked a posed costume session focused solely on baby with props. Beautiful, yes, but not the raw, authentic connection I longed to remember.

That’s exactly why newborn lifestyle photography is such a perfect fit for this season. Unlike posed sessions, these are calm, baby-led, and centered around real life. I’ll capture your newborn curled up on your bed, the way your partner gently strokes their hair, and the joy (and chaos!) of an older sibling darting in and out of the frame.
It’s not about perfection, it’s about presence. These images will bring you back to the real, tender moments you lived but may not remember.
So if you’re a Bay Area mama dreaming of relaxed, beautiful photos bonding with your baby without having to pack a diaper bag or leave your house, you’re exactly where you need to be. Let’s freeze this season before it slips away.
At its core, newborn lifestyle photography is a blend of candid, documentary-style images and gently posed portraits. Think 80% natural interaction and 20% everyone looking at the camera.
Rather than focusing on perfect poses, I aim to capture what matters most, the connection, the tiny details, and the honest beauty of this wild, wonderful season.

In these sessions, we follow your baby’s lead. If your baby wants to sleep, amazing. If they’re wide awake, also amazing. Need a feeding break? Diaper change? A cuddle session that lasts the whole shoot? Love it. We roll with it all.
Not only does this keep things peaceful, but it also allows for the most authentic images. After all, real life is beautiful.

Your home is the best place for a newborn session. And no, it doesn’t need to be huge or perfectly decorated.
All I really need is one good window. Most of the session can take place in a single room usually wherever the best natural light shines in. You don’t need to deep-clean. We’ll focus on what matters: your family, your baby, your bond.
Moreover, I’ll guide you gently, but never force anything. This session is about comfort and connection.

Beyond comfort, your home is also the safest space for your newborn. There’s no need to pack up and expose baby to studio germs. Everything happens right in the space where your family already feels calm and connected.
Plus, let’s not forget the ease of including older siblings or furry family members. No car seats, no traffic, no chaos. Just your people, at home.
Clean, simple, and real vibes.
Instead of costumes and flower crowns, let’s keep the focus where it belongs: on your baby. They’re already perfect just as they are. A soft swaddle, a cozy onesie, or even just skin-to-skin in your arms is all we need to tell your story.

Ideally, we’ll aim for the first 5–15 days after birth, when baby is sleepiest and still curled up from those womb days. However, every stage is beautiful and I’m happy to photograph babies up to a few months old.
We’ll tentatively book your session for 7–10 days after your due date and adjust as needed. I always build flexibility into my calendar for these special sessions because, let’s be real, babies run the show.

Your life doesn’t need to be perfectly staged to be photo-worthy. Whether your toddler is bouncing off the walls, your baby only wants to nurse, or your dog photobombs every frame, that’s real life. And that’s exactly what newborn lifestyle photography is about: the beautiful, messy, fleeting moments of growing your family. These are the pictures we look back ona dn share with our babies when they’re all grown to bring them back to this moment.
So, let’s make this easy, sweet, and joyful. Just you, your baby, your people, and some good light.
